ODBP Escapes – NYS Forest Visitor Rules & Guidelines
Guests who access New York State Forest lands adjacent to or near ODBP Escapes must follow all New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) rules and regulations.
1. Respect State Land
Only enter areas open to public recreation. Obey all posted signs, closures, and restrictions.
2. Stay on Designated Trails
Use established roads and trails whenever possible to protect wildlife and natural resources.
3. Pack It In, Pack It Out
Remove all trash, food containers, and personal belongings. Leave the forest cleaner than you found it.
4. Campfires
Only build fires where permitted. Never leave a fire unattended and completely extinguish it before leaving.
5. Protect Wildlife
Do not feed, harass, or disturb wildlife. Observe animals from a safe distance.
6. Hunting & Firearms
Follow all NYSDEC hunting laws, seasons, licensing requirements, and firearm safety regulations.
7. Motorized Vehicles
ATVs, motorcycles, and other motorized vehicles are only allowed where specifically permitted by NYSDEC.
8. Respect Other Visitors
Be courteous to hikers, hunters, anglers, and other outdoor enthusiasts.
9. No Damage to Property
Do not cut trees, damage vegetation, remove natural features, or deface property.
10. Emergency Responsibility
Guests enter state lands at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety and preparedness.
Important Property Boundary Notice
The west side of ODBP Escapes is private property owned by a neighboring landowner. Guests must not pass any posted “Private Property” signs under any circumstances. Access to adjacent NYS Forest land is permitted only while following all NYSDEC regulations.
